DHL, you rock !

It already seems so long ago. But last Saturday 14 and Sunday, May 15th dùbent was asked by DHL to perform on the DHL Eurocup tournament in Lommel (BE). An international football tournament for all office workers in and just outside Europe.

Promptly at half past ten in the morning dùbent went to Lommel. It promised to be a very special day. We brought a special guest to Lommel. Despite the weather, the ambience was good! We noticed on a day like Saturday what is meant by southern European temperament. Gosh! What are the Italians and Spaniards fanatical between and along the sidelines! That’s good, because that means they can party like the best. The music and rhythm was enough to throw all the hands in the air. We did not know that Israelis were familiar with the phenomenon polonaise ?!

During the Saturday Wouter Habraken, the brother of our cornetist Maartje, came to Lommel. Wouter is the owner of Wouw Producties. A production company specialized in creating videos. Dùbent is making a promo video, because as you know, we would love to play at the World Cup in Russia in 2018. The end result will remain a mystery, but we promise that you’re the first to see the video when it is finished.
Sunday was the final day of the tournament. We decided to do something slightly different as the day before: we didn’t play along the sidelines, no we played at the cheerleader’s stage. Simultaneously with the football tournament, DHL organizes for all the female employees a cheerleading tournament. The level of their cheerleading shows? Wauw, it was amazing!
At the end of the day, we were asked to entertain the audience on the main court before the final. The Netherlands reached the final so everybody was really excited. This performance was the end of our DHL adventure for this year. Unfortunately, the adventure stopped completely for one of us. Bart van Laarhoven was a man from the very first hour and we would like to thank him for all his efforts during the past nine years. Bart was the man who makes all the amazing drum sounds on the bass drum. Bart, thank you for everything! We are going to miss you.
Oh and by the way; the Netherlands won the final. Hope they will do the same during the World Cup in 2016 😉
